Hi Becca!  Welcome to The Boss Diary! So glad you’re here. Tell me all about your blog Little Budget Beauty.

Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for having me Boss Diary! I started LBB back in the fall of 2015. I had just moved out to Buffalo, and I was super into watching beauty Youtubers online. I was working about 10 hours a week at a retail store, and I was going to school full time. I didn’t like my job and I didn’t like my major. The only thing I was certain about at that time was makeup. I started my blog, which at the time was called Beauty by Becca (real original, I know). I was having so much fun, and my friends and family loved it. I haven’t exactly been consistent since then, but September of 2017, I decided that this was truly something I wanted to do as long as I was able. It is so fun for me, and I love sharing affordable products and helping people who don’t have time or money to research products. Cause lets face it, makeup is so expensive.

I am loving your Monthly Beauty Series! How did that idea come about?

Thank you so much. It was actually inspired by a friend of mine Emily. She texted me one night, and asked me what I thought about the idea. We talked back and forth about it for a while. I texted other friends and got their opinions. It felt right. I always have wanted to put a twist on beauty blogging to try and stand out, and this is the perfect first step.

Who are some of your favorite business women or entrepreneurs that you look up to and have inspired your work?

The women who most inspire my work are Samantha Ravandahl a Canadian beauty influencer, and Stephanie Ledda an Upstate New York influencer. They have both been in the game for a while, but have always stayed true to themselves. You don’t see these ladies getting caught up in trends, or super over produced videos and pictures. They have built an amazing career all while staying true to their roots.

I love your Instagram feed and theme. Who takes the majority of your photos? And how much time do you spend on putting together your Instagram content?

Oh Instagram. I love and hate it at the same time. It helps me so much promoting my blog, but I get so lost in it sometimes. Nothing about blogging, and social media came easy to me. So I do take a lot of time to create my content, because I am constantly trying to learn new things and create the best content possible for my followers at that point in time. As for my pictures, I really will ask anyone. My boyfriend thankfully takes a lot for me, and we are learning together. My coworkers also take a lot of my pictures on my feed as we use them for the store account primarily.

Tell me one thing that most people may not know about you.

I don’t wear makeup that often. I know, I know. It sounds crazy coming from a beauty blogger. But that is the reality, and something I wanted to make apparent recently on my blog. I wanted to approach beauty blogging as a “normal” woman, and stay that way. I didn’t want to try to create a fantasy world of always having the perfect makeup and the most perfect outfits, because that is was detached me from some of the girls I watched for years and years, because they weren’t relatable anymore.

Are there any projects you are working on, and/or upcoming events that we should know about?

I just re-did my blog! It took me a while, but I am super proud about how it turned out.

Name one thing that your hometown city is known for that some people may not know.

Rochester is all about the garbage plates, white hot dogs, and most importantly the small businesses. There are so many influential women with small businesses in Rochester that are just starting to get the proper recognition. I’ve found it has been through the support of the many many amazing women who are the “ROC GIRL GANG”.

Where would you like to be in exactly 1 year from now?

This is the hardest question. I hope to be more successful with my blog, and a better person than I am now. I also wanted to be getting ready for starting school again in the fall of 2019 for communications.

Before you go, what is one piece of advice you would give to women out there who are looking to start their own blog?

Just go for it and don’t be afraid of what people think. Chances are that the people you are most worried about, will be your biggest supporters. We as women are so hard on ourselves, but it feels good to do what you love. The hardest part is just making the decision to start.
