Current City & Hometown: Buffalo, NY
I love the work that you’re doing in social media and vlogging. Tell me about how you started your Youtube channel and what motivated you to start your brand.
I started doing Youtube vids several years ago. I use to sit and watch dozens of makeup collection and videos at a time and afterwards I would run out and buy the stuff that I saw in the videos. One day I just decided to make a video to share what I purchased and it kind of just grew from there. I slowly formed this little online community and a couple of years in I decided to really work on building my brand.
What challenges have you faced as a Digital Content Creator? Are there any tools or resources out there that have helped you overcome these challenges?
To be honest, every day is challenging. Lol. There’s always something…Instagram shadow bans, corrupted video files, a video won’t upload, a copyright strike, trying to be active on every account during the course of the day…you name it. The best resource that I found are scheduling apps like Buffer or Latergram for Instagram as well as the Facebook and Youtube scheduling tools. It allows me to create content in the middle of the night and schedule out my posts for the entire week.
Today’s age is all about ‘The Digital Age.’ With a powerful advertising platform such as Instagram, small businesses and brands can reach a wider audience. In what ways do you think Instagram helps you build your brand?
Well Instagram has over 600 million monthly users. As an influencer or entrepreneur where else in the world are you going to get access to that many people on a daily basis? Instagram allows you to convey and a clear concise message in a really simple and eye catching way. I try to utilize every aspect of IG….from adding thirty unique hashtags to each post, to posting several times a day during peak hours (8am-8pm), postings bright/crisp, high quality photos, making sure to keep a good ratio of sponsored to non-sponsored content, utilizing a mix of photos and video as well as adding content to Instastories and occasionally going live. It’s a handle but the combination has worked well for me. Instagram has definitely exposed me to new brands and fellow influencers and while helping me expand my audience.
Besides Instagram and Youtube, what other social media platforms do you use? Which platform do you find the most appealing for your brand?
I’m obsessed with Snapchat. That’s the platform that I use to connect most with my followers. It allows me the ability to share all of the random parts of my day with my SnapFam and chat back and forth. I also do daily unboxings on there as well. I open up PR packages with upcoming beauty product releases so people can check them out beforehand. I also do Snap takeovers from time to time for different brands.
Tell me about the most recent collaboration you’ve done. And are there any creatives in Buffalo that you’d like to work with?
I just finished participating on some cool collabs for Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Avon and IT Cosmetics. They’re both awesome brands that donate generously towards supporting survivors and cancer research. Right now I’m working on a Youtube and Snapchat collab with Adore Me, which is a really cute lingerie brand that carries sleepwear, swimsuit and all types of adorable stuff. I’m definitely open to working with local influencers. There are so many talented folks in the WNY area.
